Build a readable line out of a name and a figure.
The picking list needs one label per line that a warehouse operative can read at a glance, such as Hinges (240 units). Build that label in D2:D6 from the item in A and the quantity in B.
Solve it on your own to keep the bonus. Each hint gets one step closer to the formula.
The same formula in the other shapes it takes at work.
Combine text from multiple cells using concatenation.
Build a readable line out of a name and a figure.
One address line from several columns, with no doubled commas where a part is missing.
Join the first letter of each part rather than the whole thing.
This is the grid you start with. Cell references in the task — B6, C2 — point at the row numbers and column letters below.
| A | B | C | D | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Item | Qty | Bin | Label |
| 2 | Hinges | 240 | A3 | |
| 3 | Brackets | 36 | A7 | |
| 4 | Wall plugs | 500 | B1 | |
| 5 | Screws | 1200 | B4 | |
| 6 | Washers | 75 | C2 |
A number joined with & becomes text, so the label reads naturally without converting anything first. The trap is the spaces: " (" and " units)" each carry their own, and leaving one out gives Hinges(240 units).
