Numeric answers divided by people asked.
Eight customers were asked for a score out of 10; some replied with a number, some wrote a comment instead, some ignored it. In B11 give the share of customers who gave a numeric score.
Solve it on your own to keep the bonus. Each hint gets one step closer to the formula.
The same formula in the other shapes it takes at work.
This is the grid you start with. Cell references in the task — B6, C2 — point at the row numbers and column letters below.
| A | B | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Customer | Score |
| 2 | K. Ahmed | 9 |
| 3 | L. Brown | |
| 4 | M. Costa | 7 |
| 5 | N. Dubois | Too early to say |
| 6 | O. Evans | 10 |
| 7 | P. Fischer | 6 |
| 8 | Q. Garcia | |
| 9 | R. Hall | 8 |
| 10 | ||
| 11 | Numeric response rate |
Dividing by COUNTA of the scores would make the comment count as a respondent; dividing by a typed 8 breaks when a row is added. Counting the names keeps the denominator honest, and the result tells you how much weight the average score can bear.
