Subtract how far into the week you are, then jump a week ahead.
Orders placed in one week ship the following Monday. In B2:B7 give the shipping Monday for each order date — always the Monday after, even when the order is placed on a Monday.
Solve it on your own to keep the bonus. Each hint gets one step closer to the formula.
The same formula in the other shapes it takes at work.
Determine the day of the week using the WEEKDAY function.
The second argument decides where the week starts — and makes weekends easy to test.
Subtract how far into the week you are, then jump a week ahead.
This is the grid you start with. Cell references in the task — B6, C2 — point at the row numbers and column letters below.
| A | B | |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Order date | Ships |
| 2 | 3/6/2024 | |
| 3 | 3/4/2024 | |
| 4 | 3/9/2024 | |
| 5 | 3/10/2024 | |
| 6 | 3/11/2024 | |
| 7 | 3/15/2024 |
Dates are numbers, so stepping back to the start of the week is a subtraction and jumping forward a week is +7. WEEKDAY's type 2 makes Monday 1, which is what makes the arithmetic land on a Monday from every day of the week, Sunday included.
