Inside a range means above the bottom and below the top — two conditions.
A fridge passes its check when the reading is from 2 to 5 degrees inclusive. In C2:C7 return TRUE when a reading is in range and FALSE when it is not.
Solve it on your own to keep the bonus. Each hint gets one step closer to the formula.
The same formula in the other shapes it takes at work.
This is the grid you start with. Cell references in the task — B6, C2 — point at the row numbers and column letters below.
| A | B | C | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Time | Reading (°C) | In range? |
| 2 | 06:00 | 3.4 | |
| 3 | 09:00 | 5 | |
| 4 | 12:00 | 5.6 | |
| 5 | 15:00 | 2 | |
| 6 | 18:00 | 1.8 | |
| 7 | 21:00 | 4.1 |
A chained comparison like 2<=B2<=5 looks right and is wrong: Excel compares 2<=B2 first, gets TRUE or FALSE, and then compares that to 5. AND keeps the two bounds as two separate tests, and inclusive limits mean 2.0 and 5.0 both pass.
